#1 Anáhuac ⌇ 200×220 cm ⌇ 2022

In 2020 I moved out of my parent’s house in Tlalnepantla, Mexico, to an apartment in the eight floor of a building in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

It took me about a year to realise that I had not allowed myself to grieve my loss. It was huge. I was also confused because I didn’t know who I was without what I had left behind.

This quilt portrays the expansion of ‘my world’. It begins with La Sierra de Guadalupe, a set of hills in the north border between Mexico City and the State of Mexico and ends with the mountain El Ajusco in the south-west of Mexico City.
